Club Malua

2022

Articulating the iconic bowls club in a new light

A rejuvenation project for the South Coast, Club Malua sets a new precedent for the iconic Australian bowls club, a space that pays homage to the resilience of the local community, whilst providing a contemporary and versatile place to come together.

Articulating the iconic bowls club in a new light, this design harnesses the idea that true hospitality is akin to hosting loved ones in your own home. Design elements, organic in shape and texture feature throughout the venue, fuelling a residential aesthetic and feel, reminiscent of a holiday home ready for entertaining family and friends. The centralised fireplace and informal lounge invite patrons to embrace the relaxed atmosphere of the club, whilst providing a partition between the dining areas.

Seating 480 guests, the restaurant, lounge and bar make up the open floor plan, leading into the versatile events space. A sports bar, children’s play area and alfresco seating with sweeping views of the bush and bowling green mean the venue caters to every member of the community. A sense of calm and lightness is present, seeing crisp neutrals offset by deep navy and rich honey hues, mirroring the coastal landscape. Oak timbers and brass accents are balanced against paved floors and handmade tiles, creating a warm and contemporary space.
